DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT
"The City of Tonawanda Recreation Department's mission is to provide a
comprehensive recreation and park program suitable to the needs and interests of
its residents in a safe, leisure environment. We will strive to provide, assist
and coordinate community resources to implement services and programs for youth,
adult and senior groups, related to the well-being of the City's residents in a
professional, efficient and courteous manner."
Simply put - we are dedicated and we do care.
For the safety of the residents and the staff unfortunately all summer programs including the pool are closed or cancelled for the summer.

Boys & Girls Club Baseball
Baseball program available in the City of Tonawanda each and every summer for over 50 years. The Boys & Girls Club of the Northtowns, fields and building(s) located at 325 Franklin Street, Tonawanda, NY. We offer the following in our baseball program:
4 year old Beginning T-Ball
5-6 year old Advanced T-Ball
6-9 year old Developmental Baseball
10-13 year old "Upper Division" Baseball
We are open to any and all players who are looking to learn and play baseball. We use the motto of "All Children Can Play". We don't have sign up deadlines, offer a very favorable fee structure and placement preferences for the families and children. If your child has demonstrated a desire to play on June 20th, approximately half way through the season, he or she will be placed on a team. We want the kids to play, have a positive experience, develop athletic and social skills and make new friends !!!!!!

kohlerpool@tonawandacity.com with the words "email notification" in the subject line. We usually send these emails out a week or two prior to our upcoming special events which may include gym nights, art classes, start smart and other special events.
Kohler pool will not be open for the 2020 season
Pass Requirements:
Anyone 5 years old and older must have a photo recreation pass or pay the daily pass fee to enter either pool area. This includes all swimmers & spectators.
Daily pass fees:
To enter either pool area without a vaild recreation pass a $1.00 fee per person will be charged to all swimmers and spectators.
Kohler pool age restrictions:
Anyone under 8 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or person 18 years of age or older to be allowed in the main pool area. This is for supervision purposes.
Wading pool restrictions:
Closed until futher notice.
Special needs:
Our building is handicapped accessible. If needed, a special lift and walk-in stairs are available for entry into the pool. If we can assist you in any way, please speak to a head guard.
Swim lessons:
All youth ages 5 & up must have a recreation pass to be eligible for swim lesson registration. In addition to a valid recreation pass, a $10 fee for residents and $20 fee for non residents will be assessed to each participant.
Pre-testing:
If you are not sure which level your child is in, they must be pre-tested at the time of registration. We will only pre-test during open registration times, when a lifeguard is available.

Please register: Monday, June 24th thru Friday, June 28th from 3pm to 6pm, or Saturday, June 29th from 10am to noon. First come, first choice.

Parent toddler lessons:
Children up to the age 4 are welcome to become acquinted with the water alongside a parent or responsible adult.

Junior Olympic swim team:
Our Tonawanda Typhoon swim team program will be offered Monday thru Thursday from 11:00am to 11:50am from July 1 to August 8. The team will compete in the Eisenhart Swim Meet at night on Friday, August 2 as well as our own city swim meet. All team members will receive a team swim cap. The fee is $25.00 for residents and $50.00 for non-residents witha vaild recreation pass.
Beginner Life Guarding:
This is a 5 week long class for youth ages 10-15 who can swim at least one length of the pool and can tread water. Participants will learn basic pool saftey and lifesaving skills. This class is designed to give students a working knowledge of lifesaving and first aid, but does not include any certifications. The cost is 10.00 for residents and $20.00 for non-residents with a valid recreastion pass.

61th Annual T-NT swim meet:
The annual City meet will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:00pm. All youth are invited to sign up and participate. Registration closes at noon the day before the meet. Spectators welcome! The pool will close at 3:30pm on this day.
Tuesday fun nights:
Every Tuesday night is FUN NIGHT! We will supply the toys, floats, games and contests. There will be different themes each week.
Kohler Youth Center After School Program

We offer an After School Program at the Kohler Youth Center. This program is for resident children in grades K-7th. Our program is offered Monday through Friday from 3:00pm-5:30pm. The cost of this program is $250.00 per child per semester (2 semesters in the school year) and requires a recreation pass.
We also offer Half-day and Full-day camps throughout the school year. These programs are open to all K-7th grade city residents, and are not limited to children who are in the After School Program. These programs also require a recreation pass.
Half-day camps are offered at a cost of $9.00 per child and $7.00 for each additional child in a family. We are open from 12:00-5:30 on these days and offer lunch, a snack and many more planned activities. Please note that we do NOT do half day camps for middle school children.
Full-day camps are offered at a cost of $12.00 per child and $10.00 for each additional child in a family. We are open from 7:30-5:30 on these days and offer breakfast, lunch, a snack and many planned activities throughout the day.
CHILDREN MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED ONE WEEK IN ADVANCE TO ATTEND ALL CAMPS. SPACE IS LIMITED. CALL 695-8658 TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD.
